NYC Tech Pickleball Update

Oh no, we did it again.
We reached that magical time of the week. (Somehow)
Itsssss Pickle time!!
So let’s get the business out of the way.
Tomorrow morning, McCarren Park, 7:30-9:30 am Free Bagels and Coffee, Good Vibes, Familar Face, Infinite Smiles… and the best way to start your Friday morning:
Outdoor NYC TECH PICKLEBALL IS BACK BABYYYYYY (over 1200+ signups!!!)
Moving on to the fun stuff!
Pickle fun fact of the week:
Ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra claimed pickles made her beautiful. And the Department of Agriculture estimates that the average American eats 8.5 lbs of pickles a year.
**I can confirm Pickles do make you beautiful and you should eat way more than 8/5 lbs a year
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE
Taco fun fact of the week:
Ever been curious what the longest taco in the world is? The longest official taco in the world was 10.95 metres, required 8 grills to prepare the meat to fill it and 80 staff members to help make it. Another (unofficial) record taco made it all the way to 102 metres, boasting a meat filling of a whopping 1507 Kg.
Now you know!
**Should we get one next week for community? 😉
Wait a second…
Why was there a Taco fun fact of the week in the pickle newsletter you ask?
Great question!
That’s would be because HeyTaco is this months Tech Pickleball sponsor! (I’m also a personal megafan of theirs)
What the heck is HeyTaco you ask?
HeyTaco is the easiest way to show your teammates some love. Drop a 🌮, make someone’s day, and build a better vibe at work—just like that.
Check them out at HeyTaco.com!
**I promise they’re the most fun work app on the planet and yes I will debate you on this
Okayyyy moving on from your taco hunger… It’s Job Board 🔦 time!
Job Board 🔦
We’re starting a section in The Pickle where we give job board updates and updates on cool stuff happening in our communities ecosystem!
Sound cool right? I’ll let you be the judge for yourself:
Here’s what we have this week:

How to make work not suck
“If work takes up a third of your life, it should be at least a little fun.”
I know many people (founders, execs, ICs, etc) who look successful on the outside but are miserable on the inside.
They spend their days slaving away on work that doesn’t fulfill them.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
There’s ways to make even the most unfulfilling work fun. Here’s an example:
My first job out of college I had to make 100 manually dialed cold calls a day MINIMUM…
Sounds like the worst thing ever right?
Well ya that’s because it was.
Oh it was also during the height of COVID and I had to do this by myself in my room with no company except my cat. It was awful.
I had to find a way to make this more fun and rewarding.
So I gave myself rewards for hitting goals.
After 25 cold calls I could have a handful of candy.
After 50 cold calls I could have lunch.
After 75 cold calls I could have a beer. (cold calling is 100x better with a light buzz) After 100 cold calls I was free to do whatever I want.
Give yourself mental gratitude for accomplishing tasks and you’ll get a dopamine hit every time you cross something off your to do list.
GAMIFY THAT SHIET.
Speaking of gamifying that shiet, did you know HeyTaco is a Slack plugin to gamify hyped up your coworkers?
**you’re about to know whether you like it or not 😉🌮
Taco Tuesday?

Taco Leaderboard? I’ll just go ahead and drop this tortilla here for you: Heytaco.com
