NYC Tech Pickleball Update

Do yourself a favor. Stop what you’re doing right now, go outside, take a deep breath and just enjoy the amazing fall air and warm sunshine. Ahhhhh so good!
And then prepare yourselves for an epic day of Tech Pickleball tomorrow morning!!!
As they say, nothing beats fall in NYC.
And there’s no better way to start your fall friday morning in NYC.
Cause it’s pickle pickle pickling time. Oh baby oh baby let’s brine it up.
You always know what’s up.
Blah blah blah, 7:30-9:30, free bagels + coffee and the best community in the world.
Cya bright and early tomorrow.
Time for what you really came for.
👀 Opportunity
People in Tech LOVE hiking and skiing!
And so do I!
Being from Oregon, I’m always missing the great outdoors and how much I used to get out and do epic outdoorsy shit.
Which is why it makes so much sense for us to partner this week with Peakrankings!!
As we all know, it’s hard to plan bucket list trips when your friends can’t join. That’s exactly why community Sam built PeakHouse, to connect adventure minded people who want to hike and ski epic destinations together.
For the NYC Tech Pickleball community, they’re giving you $100 off any upcoming hiking or skiing trip.
👉 Claim your $100 credit and Find Your Inner Peak today: **https://www.peakrankings.com/peakhouse-discount-landing-page
If you’ve never met Sam before, 1) what the heck are you doing with your life and 2) come say hi to him tomorrow and talk about upcoming ski and hiking trips he’s planning!
** seriously, outside of the partnership, the stuff he’s doing is pretty freaking epic and you should at the very least check out his content and talk to him
🥒 Pickle fun fact of the week
Pickle juice powers cars – A few engineers in Florida once modified a go-kart to run on straight pickle juice. It sputtered, but it actually worked (electrolytes + acidity = energy source).
🚗 How it Worked
A group of engineers/hobbyists in Florida wanted to test whether the high salt, vinegar, and electrolyte content in pickle brine could act as a conductor in a type of improvised fuel cell.
They rigged a small go-kart engine to run through a system where pickle juice acted as the electrolyte medium.
Instead of gasoline combustion, the setup essentially used pickle brine as a battery fluid, creating enough charge to sputter the engine forward in short bursts.
⚡ Why Pickle Juice?
Pickle brine is loaded with sodium and potassium ions (same reason athletes drink it for cramps).
Those ions carry electrical charge really well, making the liquid semi-viable in a salt-bridge / battery hack.
It wasn’t efficient, scalable, or remotely practical—but it proved the concept that food brines can be hacked into electrochemical fuel.
🥒 The Result
The go-kart didn’t run smoothly (it stalled often), but it did manage to move powered only by pickle juice.
It became a viral “mad scientist” experiment in the early 2000s, and versions of it have been recreated on YouTube as science stunts.
**literally why don’t we have a pickle car at McCarren that brings all the nets for us!
And that’s all that for the week!
Short, sweet and simple.
See you crazy pickleheads tomorrow!
Ps, know anyone who might be interesting in partnering with Tech Pickleball?? Hit us up! We want to find more creative ways to expand and grow this community through awesome partners 🙂
